…after only five days, I can already say: I LOVE IT!
I signed up for “The Fearless Writer Challenge” by Tim Denning and Todd Brison because I wanted to get better at writing.
I tend to be wordy, a bit fluffy & sometimes have troubles to keep it short & concise. This is not always a problem, because sometimes I feel I want to have a rather free-flow writing experience.
BUT, I also want to be able to get to the point quickly. BÄM.
Today I will share with you my impressions & observations I collected in these first 5 days of the challenge. Feel free to subscribe to this newsletter, I will surely share more about my learnings in the future!
It is focused on X, former Twitter, and therefore I basically re-activated my old account. I didnt know what to expect, but I realized it is a great platform to practice short-to-the-point writing skills. It also has the option for longer posts. And I like the fact that it is promoting free speech & does not censor.
One major thing I learned is the concept of the “Anti-niche”.
Being a Scientist, I was educated to specialize, niche down as much as possible. Those of you who know me personally or through these Newsletters might know, I am not a specialist at core.
I love Science, Art, I am a Scientific Illustrator, even entrepreneur, I love to paint abstract art, I love to write, poems are great, I know about technical editing etc etc.
Since a while already I am wiggling around on how to live all my interests & knowledge-blobs & now I basically get to live out all of them! & I love it!
This leads to me experimenting. I dont have a huge following on X, but I managed to almost have 16000 followers on LinkedIN, so now I will see how to replicate or make it even better on X. Yes yees, follower numbers dont count if I can’t make money as a business, BUT, I need to have more eyes on me & what I offer to be able to sell my knowledge.
I also very much appreciate the community & accountability system we have.
It’s awesome to be together in the same boat with other aspiring writers and entrepreneurs to try to make the world a better place! So motivating!
Through my exposure and time I spend on X, I encountered many, MANY amazing people! One of them Dan Joe. Brilliant. Apparently a student of Tim, so I feel I made the right choice.
He says: “If you have solved a problem, you can start a Business” (Dan Koe)
This blew my mind, cos it is so true! It is basically why I became a Scientific Illustrator, to solve the problem of Scieentists to not be able to visualize their Science panda help them with it.
So I started to make a list of all the problems I solved in my life & how I can help other people. It’s quite some. So my next move is to create products.
The thing is, that I mainly have high-end products in my business so far. It is either Scientific Illustrations or a Mentoring Program.
But I can help with much more. Most of all: I always wished to help younger Scientists, not just the established ones that have a big money pot & can afford me.
This means, my goal is to come up with a set of entry, low-end products, or also called “Minimal Viable Offer" to help more humans in the world.
I have a good idea on what those offers could be, as I have my business almost 6 years now & I regularly get approached to help with different things.
I think for today, this should be it. I felt like sharing what I ma currently going through & processing it. I hope this was a valuable for you!
You are always welcome to reach out to see & suggest what you would like see to speak about more. Because ideally I also want to be of huge value for you here
Love,
Daria
