My very first atelje spot
Now I can go crazy
I grew up with an artist dad who painted in our parents bedroom most of the time.
The smell of turpentine, oil paints and pipe tobacco are still very vivid in my memory.
Whenever he painted watercolor landscapes on smaller canvases, he did that spread out on the living room table.
And my dad painted HUGE paintings, sometimes several meters big! Sometimes he also painted outside.
Somehow it was normal for me to see that & experience that. Maybe this is still why I love to paint at home on my kitchen table, even though I have a whole room I could make into my Atelje.
I decided this year to take the opportunity & get a studio spot in town so I can put all my large canvases and acrylic paints there and not worry about dropping paint anywhere.
It was a big deal for me to do that & three weeks ago I moved in & documented the whole process.
I will share a short 3min-video with you that I made, to remember this big moment:
Somehow this feels strange, but also very normal. I cannot quite explain it very clearly.
I really like going there and painting on my largest canvas so far (90x90cm) & I recently primed two new ones, one of which is a commission for my auntie.
It feels very good to have space, not feel bothered to be messy & drop paint or make any other stain. It is also so nice to be surrounded with this artsy-athmosphere, since many other artists have their painting spots there too.
Yet, I am usually there alone, which I enjoy a lot as well.
For today this is it I think :).
I will keep you updated on what I created on that big canvas. I first added a base background layer with my favorite colors & then, we will see what emerges from that :)
Thank you so much for following along & reading my artsy endeavours! It means a lot to me!
Love,
Daria
